What if...

要是使用藥物提升人的認知能力與智慧提升會怎樣？

What if drugs were used to improve cognition and intelligence?

精神藥物成為開放性市場交易後，人類的智商和創造力、學習能力顯著提升，體現在創造力、智力、愛、和平之上，這些特質讓人更接近所謂的神性，社會氣氛從重視人性道德、物質，轉為追求神性意志與智慧。

After psychotropic drugs were traded on the open market, intelligence, creativity and learning ability of human were significantly improved, which was embodied in creativity, intelligence, love and peace.

These traits make people close to divinity, and the social atmosphere changes from valuing morality and material to pursuing divine will and wisdom.

Design Concept

未來的人們崇尚成為智慧的先知與聖人，於日常生活中佩戴著智慧光環。

智慧光環將會偵測神經的活躍程度，於佩戴過程中發出亮光。人們配戴時，如同在古老的壁畫中，我們對於聖人或是先知的印象——背後散發著光輝，它成為時尚、地位的象徵。

In the future, people will worship to be wise prophets and saints, wearing aura in their daily lives.

The aura will detect active level of nerve and light up during wearing. Wearing aura as our image of a saint or prophet who spread light from behind in ancient frescoes. It became a symbol of fashion and social status.

- 認知提升藥物 Cognition - Enhancing Drugs

聰明藥：用於治療發作性嗜睡症、過動症，輔助工作與學習。

愛憶欣：用於阿茲海默症。一些研究表示，它可以增強記憶力和注意力。

Modafinil: It is used to treat narcolepsy and Hyperactivity Disorder, and can assist work and study.

Aricept: It's used in Alzheimer's disease. Some studies suggest it improves memory and attention.

- 致幻藥劑 Psychedelics

中樞神經系統興奮劑，致幻藥劑為我們設計所選用的藥物。

迷幻蘑菇：現今可購於荷蘭coffee shop

啟靈藥：流行於1960~1970年嬉皮文化

Central nervous system stimulants.Psychedelics are the drugs of choice for our design.

Magic mushrooms: It is now available at the Coffee Shop in the Netherlands.

LSD: It is popular in the hippie in 1960~1970.

藥物的使用原則 Principles of drug use

使用藥物上的限制：

1. 對青少年和兒童可能有妨礙腦部發展的風險

2. 減少機會的不平等：研究表明，認知能力增強的藥物在智力低至平均水平的個體中可提供最大的性能提升。

3. 適用於複雜工作：不適用於重複性高、標準指令的簡單工作（例如，看到某種顏色後按特定按鈕）。

4. 特定客群：一些研究表明，老年人可能無法從增強認知能力的藥物中獲得太多益處。

Restrictions on drug use:

1. Age limit: Cognition-enhancing drugs could present unique risks to the developing brain.

2. Reduce opportunity inequality: Research suggests that cognition-enhancing drugs offer the greatest performance boost among individuals with low-to-average intelligence.
3. Suitable for complex work: Not suitable for simple work with high repeatability and standard instructions. For example, press a specific button when you see a certain color.

4. Specific user: Some studies suggest that older adults may not derive much benefit from cognition-enhancing drugs.

藥物對人們的影響 The effects of drugs on poeple

- 迷幻藥促進神經可塑性，使大腦的不同部分更加緊密相連。

在《美國國家科學院院刊》(PNAS Journal)和《當代生物學》(Current Biology)上發表的兩項關於LSD的研究中，功能性磁共振成像(fMRI)掃描結果顯示，與安慰劑相比，服用小劑量LSD後，參與者的大腦內部聯繫更加緊密。參與神經研究的使用者使用迷幻蘑菇後，也發現相似的效果。

- 攝取藥物能夠帶來的好處包含減少社交焦慮、提升工作表現等等。

適當的微劑量攝取，並不會有成癮的狀況發生，甚至開啟大腦的創造力。

- Psychedelics promote neuroplasticity and make different parts of the brain more connected.

In two studies on LSD, one published in PNAS Journal and another in Current Biology, participants’ brains were more interconnected upon intake of a small dose of LSD as compared to a placebo, as measured by fMRI scans. Similar effects were found in neuroimaging studies of participants under the influence of psilocybin mushrooms.

- The benefits of taking medication include reduced social anxiety and improved job performance.

Appropriate microdose intake of drugs will not lead to addiction, or even open the creativity of the brain.
